LHWs hold sit-in over fuel quota cut, maltreatment.

MIRPURKHAS -- A large number of lady health workers (LHWs) held a demonstration outside local press club on Monday and blocked the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road in protest against Sindh government's failure to accept their demands.

Leaders of the Mirpurkhas chapter of Lady Health Workers Welfare Association, Huma Sheikh and Eshrat Fatima, organised the sit-in on the main road, which led to suspension of traffic.

The protesters complained to journalists that officials concerned had cut quantity of petrol supplied to supervisors and warned that they would not tolerate any reduction in the approved quantity of fuel.

They deplored that most vehicles of supervisors were lying faulty as required funds for repairs were not provided to them. As a result, they were bearing with additional expenses from their own pockets, they said.

They urged authorities concerned to stop corruption in health department by taking drastic measures and said that their service books too were left incomplete to keep them in vulnerable position.

They accused an accountant of being corrupt and demanded he be replaced without delay.
