LHC admits demotion pleas of police officials.

LAHORE -- The Lahore High Court (LHC) allowed petitions filed by police officials on Thursday contesting their promotion after being charged in the 2014 Model Town incident.

Through their lawyer, Farhad Ali Shah, Ali Hassan Awan and others argued that the police department had discriminated against them. The counsel noted that despite going through the same judicial process in the Model Town case, many other officers with the rank of superintendent of police had advanced to the next rank.

He said that the petitioners, which also included inspectors and sub-inspectors, had received a demotion. According to him, the department also revoked promotions that had previously been given to a few of the petitioners.
