Lesco decides to set up four new grids.

LAHORE -- Keeping in view the increasing domestic and commercial load and do away with various system constraints - low voltage, fluctuation, tripping etc - the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has decided to build four new grid stations in the provincial capital.

In addition to new grid stations - all of 132kV capacity - load of an existing grid will also be shifted to another in a bid to reduce burden on other stations, easing 11kV system - last tier of the power distribution system, Dawn has learnt.

'We plan to construct four 132kV grid stations at Bhuptian (Raiwind Road), Mehmood Booti, Wassanpura and Barki Road in near future, as we have intensively started efforts to get the pieces of land for these important projects,' a senior Lesco official says.

'Hopefully, we will get pieces of land for grid stations soon,' Lesco Chief Executive Officer Mujahid Pervaiz Chatha told Dawn on Tuesday.

Lesco, which covers a vast service area of Lahore metropolitan city and its adjoining districts of Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura and Nankana, deals with over 4.5 million consumers and is considered to be the biggest power distribution company (Disco) in terms of load (electricity consumption) and revenue.
