Legal Troubles.

The government's attempt to steady PIA and prevent it from capsizing is a difficult task, one made almost impossible with the consistent issues that continue to damage the national flag carrier. This time, legal troubles have led to one of the leased planes in PIA's roster to be grounded and seized in Malaysia.

It is currently unclear exactly why the leasing company-which has taken over from a firm that previously held the contracts-has chosen to restrict PIA from moving the aircraft. But what is worse is that this is only one of the two it wants to ground.

This looks to be another protracted legal battle, one that Pakistan must not lose. This lease dispute is reportedly valued at $14 million, not to mention that the airline cannot risk losing another craft from its fleet without any contingency plans.

After the government has gathered all the facts pertaining to the case, it must get its best diplomatic and legal minds to resolve this crisis before we have another hefty payout to make from the national exchequer. Government funds must be conserved; international companies are perhaps looking at previous agreements to pay as a sign that they can come and collect. Fighting this case effectively will help...
