Law Minister urges lawmakers to bring clarity over bill relating to transgenders.

ISLAMABAD -- The Senate started its session here at the Parliament House on Monday with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair. The House offered fateha for the departed souls of the flood victims. The lawmakers also prayed for the martyrs of security personnel, who laid down their lives in defence of the country.

Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar urged the lawmakers to bring clarity over a bill relating to transgender persons in light of Islamic injunctions and provisions of the Constitution. He said this while responding to 'The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) (Amendment) Bill, 2022' moved by Fawzia Arshad. The Law Minister said it is a sensitive matter and we should take a decision in light of the Shariah and the Constitution. Besides, the Chair also referred 'The Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2022', 'The Al-Ala University Bill, 2022', 'The Federal Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022' 'The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2022' and 'The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021' to the standing committees concern.
