Land dispute: teachers, doctors approach police.

SAHIWAL -- The standoff between Faridiya College teachers and doctors aggravated on Tuesday in Pakpattan over a land dispute and the vandalizing of a private hospital's premises by the students on Monday.

Late on Saturday, Izharul Haq and Dr Ihsanul Haq, owners of a hospital adjacent to the college, demolished college's western boundary wall and erected a new wall after occupying 13 marlas, in the presence of the revenue staff. They did so after winning a 10-year-old case from the case of the assistant commissioner. On Monday morning, college students not demolished the wall but also vandalized the hospital.

Dawn that on Monday night, the Pakpattan Pakistan Medical Association filed an application with the Pakpattan City Police Station to register a case against college teachers for instigating the students to break the boundary wall.

After Monday protests, Dawn learnt from sources, the additional deputy commissioner (revenue), has withdrew the notification dated October 17, 2019 that entitled Izhar and Dr Ihsan to become owners of 13 marlas of the Auqaf Department.

Dawn learnt from sources the additional commissioner wrote in his order dated November 4, 2019 that AC Ali Butter is not a 'competent authority' to issue notification over the controversial land...
