Lakki elders support efforts to contain virus.

LAKKI MARWAT -- A jirga comprising area elders and leaders of different political parties has assured the district administration of support to contain coronavirus by raising awareness among citizens.

Speaking at a meeting held here in the district headquarters complex Tajazai on Thursday, they said that stopping spread of the virus was a national duty and they would play an effective role in this regard. They said they would work jointly with the administration officials to create awareness of precautionary measures so that people could protect themselves from coronavirus.

The jirga was convened by deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb to seek support of the local elders and political activists to control spread of Covid-19. He told the participants that strict observance of relevant standard operating procedures was essential to stop spread of the virus.

He asked the participants to launch campaigns in their respective localities to highlight importance of wearing mask and social distancing.
