Lakki city residents facing water shortage for a week.

LAKKI MARWAT -- The congested Mohallah Haqdadabad of Lakki city is facing water shortage since a tubewell went out of order last week.

Local residents told journalists that the whole area depended on a single tubewell, which was insufficient to cope with the growing water needs of people.

They regretted that the tehsil municipal administration officials seemed disinterested in repairing the faulty tubewell.

They said as the civic body was engaged with enforcing Covid-19-related precautionary measures it had no time to pay heed to the problems the consumers were facing. They said the residents had no alternative source to get water.

They said the TMA's water supply wing employees were focused on spraying disinfectants, cleaning roads, government buildings, hospitals and other installations to stop spread of coronavirus.

'Despite Ramazan we have to fetch water from other neighbourhoods,' lamented a resident, saying many residents had no other option but to purchase water.

The TMA's water supply department head Anwar Kamal told dawn that the faulty machinery of the tubewell had been sent to the mechanics for repair.

He claimed that the municipal administration had made alternative arrangements to ensure water supply to the urban locality.
