THE Lahore Development Authority plans to construct a 130-foot wide and 60-foot high gate near the NAB office on Multan Road. The initial work of digging is about to begin.

What is shocking for every citizen is that the pillar of the gate on the southern end of the road is located in the middle of a sewage drain that the National Highways Authority had recently completed.

On making inquiries it was revealed that the LDA had neither sought the approval of the NHA nor submitted the layout plan of the gate. This shows a state of disconnect between two government departments. The gate will cost the taxpayers Rs22.23 million. What for? What is the wisdom behind it?
