KOHAT -- Residents of posh Kotal Township here have assailed the district administration over broken streets, roads, streetlights and dilapidated parks for over one decade.

Talking to Dawn on Monday, president of the Kotal association Noor Islam said the residents had held meetings with successive project directors who had assured them of resolving the issues after approval of budget, but to no avail.

He said the hospital road was in bad shape as substandard material had been used in its construction. 'When we met the project director twice three years ago to apprise him of the road condition, he told us that the road will become plain with the passage of time. But due to poor compaction the road has depleted,' he regretted.

When contacted, project director Eng Haji Khan Azad, told this correspondent that he had demanded funds for reconstruction of the road, but adviser to the chief minister had said the project would be executed by the communication and works department.

He claimed that funds for the road had been approved but work was being delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Similarly, the project director said they had applied for Rs50 million for construction of three parks and streets and installation of streetlights, but the amount was yet to be approved.
