KMC official among five held for issuing fake degrees of KU, NED and SU.

KARACHI -- Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in issuance of fake degrees and mark sheets of the University of Karachi (KU), NED University, University of Sindh and other educational boards in the metropolis and seized a huge quantity of forged documents of higher educational institutes and government institutions.

Acting on a tip-off, Gizri police conducted a raid at a home in P and T Colony off Chaudhry Khaliquzzaman Road and detained five suspects.

'The held suspects were part of a gang, which was involved in forging documents of high educational and government institutions,' claimed SSP South Sheeraz Nazeer.

One of the held suspects was an official of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), added the officer.

The police claimed to have seized 38 'original and printed' papers of higher educational institutes, 40 non-printed and blank papers of the educational institutes, stickers of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and different institutions, printed 'fake' tickets and stamped papers of different countries, two pay orders, one list describing tenure of the KU vice chancellor, 18 stamps of different educational institutes with dates and serial numbers, one white box containing pen, markers and stamp pads...
