KKH traders issued notices to remove encroachments.

MANSEHRA: The National Highway Authority has directed land encroachers to voluntarily do away with their illegal structures along the Karakoram Highway to prevent next week's crackdown.

'We have served notices on traders and market owners asking them to remove encroachments from the KKH's Shinkiari-Chaterplan section by Jan 22 otherwise they will pull them down with the help of heavy machinery,' NHA assistant director Saeedur Rehman told reporters in Shinkiari area here on Wednesday.

He said the authority would widen the artery for smooth flow of traffic.

Mr Rehman said the district administration, police, revenue department and other authorities would be part of the anti-encroachment drive for which preparations had already been made.

WARNED: Deputy commissioner of Mansehra district Bilal Shahid on Wednesday directed authorities to ensure good governance.

He also ordered a clampdown on profiteering in the district.

Mr Shahid told assistant commissioners and heads of government departments in a meeting here that they should do their duties diligently to the relief of the people.

He said he had been monitoring the performance of all departments.
