'Kidnapping for ransom cases drop by 35pc'.

PESHAWAR -- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Thursday claimed drastic reduction in the incidents of terrorism and other crimes in the province during the current year.

According to a police statement issued here, the number of the incidents of kidnapping for ransom dropped by 35 per cent in the last two years from 11 in 2018 to eight in 2019.

The police said they held 20,889 proclaimed offenders in the current year compared to 20,884 last year, while the number of vehicle snatching cases dropped from 31 in 2018 to 26 in 2019.

Also, the incidence of firing in the air dropped from 7,206 to 6,277 in the last two years.

The police said they had adopted an offensive-cum-defensive policy against terrorism.
