Khyber police accused of taking bribe from transporters.

LANDI KOTAL -- Transporters taking fruits and vegetables to Afghanistan via the Torkham border have accused the Khyber police of demanding illegal gratifications from them at Takhta Baig checkpost near Jamrud.

Requesting anonymity, they said the police posted at the said checkpost demanded Rs8,000 per vehicle if they were allowed out of turn, and Rs1,000 per vehicle on their own turn.

They said the police, customs and border force officials also charged them from Rs5,000 to Rs7,000 for their out of turn customs clearance and issuance of the gate...
