Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed befittingly on Wednesday: Dr. Firdous.

ISLAMABAD -- Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed befittingly on Wednesday across the country to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue.

Briefing media after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Saturday, she said Kashmir is the top most priority for the government.

The Special Assistant said the Prime Minister directed the participants of the meeting to arrange events in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day across the country.

She said the Prime Minister also underscored the need for properly highlighting the Kashmir issue in the media.

She said basic human rights of the Kashmiris have been usurped and they are not allowed to even perform their religious practices.

She said the Prime Minister appreciated the role of the media on Kashmir issue and also urged it to be partner in this movement for freedom of the Kashmiris. She said the real face of India should be exposed through the media.

The Special Assistant said the meeting reviewed progress on the steps being taken to provide relief to people, and identify as well as address the gaps in this process.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said the meeting was informed about the action taken against the elements involved in the flour crisis.

She said the Punjab government fined the responsible people and also suspended the officials involved in creating the crisis.

She said the provincial governments have been directed to take steps on war footings to address the factors causing inflation.

She said the Prime Minister reminded his team that they came to power to provide relief and ensure provision of due rights to people.

She said the Prime Minister told the participants that no negligence in provision of relief will be tolerated.

Speaking about the ongoing accountability process, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the process will continue with same momentum as there is zero tolerance for corruption and corrupt practices.
