Karak traders threaten protest against taxes.

KARAK -- The central office-bearers of Anjuman Tajiran-i-Karak have condemned 'unfair' imposition of taxes by tehsil municipal authorities and decided to launch a protest against the taxes.

The decision was made in an extraordinary meeting of traders here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by all subordinate bodies of traders of different bazaars across the district.

The meeting was chaired by central president of Anjuman Tajiran Gul Razi Khan. The participants of the meeting said that traders were already paying different kinds of taxes imposed by the provincial government on them. 'Now the TMAs of are imposing taxes on us that are not affordable for us,' they added.

They alleged that TMA was not providing services affectively to them. They said that they purchased even drinking water from private water sellers.

The traders said that TMA had no right to impose unfair taxes on them if it could not provide drinking water to them. They decided to summon a grand meeting of the traders of the entire district on December 26 and invite local lawmakers to it to bring the miseries of traders into their notice.
