Junior category of 58th National Badminton Championships kicks off.

PESHAWAR -- The Junior category of the 58th National Badminton Championship kicked off here at an international standard venue at the indoor hall of the Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex on Thursday.

Senior Vice President Pakistan Olympic Association and former Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah formally inaugurated the Championship with junior players taking part from across Pakistan. Secretary General Pakistan Badminton Federation Syed Wajid Ali Shah, President KP Badminton Association Zafar Ali Khan, DSO Charsadda Tehseen Ullah Khan, players and spectators were also present.

It is worth to mention here that Pakistan Badminton Federation announced holding the 58th National Badminton Championship with a Junior category as well with the strong support of Directorate of Sports KP and District Administration Charsadda.

Tehseen Ullah, who also represented Pakistan in the two South Games in Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Badminton, said that hosting the National Ranking Championship with the aim to provide much needed competitive exposure to the upcoming players.

He said the KP Badminton Association is hosting National Badminton Championships with the collaboration of Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and District Administrations of Charsadda and Peshawar.

He said, more than 300 male and female players from across the country competed in men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles women's doubles, mixed doubles and team events junior and senior categories.

He said the National Junior Badminton Championship would continue up till January 31, 2021, followed by 58th National Senior Ranking Badminton Championship from February 2-7, 2021. Teams from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan WAPDA and Pakistan Army and host KP are participating in the junior category while Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan WAPDA, Pakistan Army, HEC, National Bank, Sui Gas, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Police would be taking part in the Senior Championship.
