JUI-F calls for effective measures to control prices.

MANSEHRA -- Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Shahzada Gustasab Khan on Saturday urged the federal government to take measures to control the soaring prices of essential commodities.

He told reporters here that the government's failure to check inflation had significantly reduced the people's buying power.

The JUI-F leader criticised the government over stampedes during the distribution of free wheat flour and said women were dying in long queues to get flour bags but no one at the helm cared.

He said the ruling elite plundered national wealth during successive governments with the people bearing the brunt.

Mr Khan said the federal government should take initiatives to address poverty.

Leader says inflation has cut people's buying power

He urged the people to elect 'honest and committed' politicians to power to steer the country out of economic and political crises.

The JUI-F leader also demanded the withdrawal of the recent taxes to increase business and employment opportunities.

FLOUR DISTRIBUTION: The district administration notified 77 points here on Saturday for distributing free wheat flour to deserving families.

The development came following a meeting, which was chaired by deputy commissioner Bilal Shahid Rao and attended by heads of the tehsil municipal administrations and revenue and food departments.

An official order issued by the deputy commissioner notified flour distribution points at village and neighbourhood councils.
