Judicial system in merged districts hailed.

KHAR -- Speakers at the oath-taking ceremony of the office-bearers of the Bajaur Bar Association here on Saturday said extension of country's regular laws to the merged districts was helping in provision of speedy and cheap justice to people.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the district judicial complex.

District and sessions judge Mian Zahidullah Jan, senior civil Judge Iftikhar Ahmad, district police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah, assistant commissioner Anwarul Haq, and scores of lawyers were in attendance.

The speakers said the customs and traditions of the region were not affected by the extension of the country's regular laws to the tribal districts, thus negating the propaganda of some elements that the Frontier Crimes Regulation was the best mechanism to administer the region. They explained that FCR was not a legal system and was just a regulation meant to control crimes in the region.
