Jirga allows oil supplies after negotiations with govt team.

KOHAT -- A lawmakers` jirga on Sunday allowed the oil supplies to restore after first round of talks with a government team remained successful. The final round of talks is scheduled for Tuesday.

The jirga has been demanding provision of rights to the people of the oil and gas-rich Kohat division by the exploration companies.The jirga said they won`t wind up the protest sit-in unless an agreement was signed with a 15-day deadline for the approval of the 14-point charter of demands put forward by the jirga related to fixing oil and gas royalty according to a decision of the Peshawar High Court and construction of Gurguri road.

The sit-in by the MPs and a large number of people has been continuing at Rangeenabad Square in Lachi tehsil for a week now despite the sizzling heat.

However, the protesters allowed supplies blocked for a week but vowed to continue the protesttillthesuccessofthennal round of talks.

The jirga headed by MPAs Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, ZafarAzam and Shahdad Khan met with the government team at the Peshawar secretariat.

The government side was represented by law minister Sultan Khan, the home secretary, additional chief secretary, finance secretary and the commissioner Kohat division.
