Jazz trio mesmerises audience with innovative tunes.

ISLAMABAD -- A jazz trio that performed live at the residence of Spanish Ambassador Jose A de Ory on Tuesday night delved deep into the tunes of its homeland combining influences of music from around the world.

What emerged were compositions that were expressive with rhythmic intensity, allied with sweet-sounding richness, harmonic finesse and extraordinary virtuosity.

The craftsmanship, as the performers played Irish and Brazilian tunes, and songs such as Moon River from the film Breakfast at Tiffany's and You and the Night and the Music, was exquisite. Josemi Carmona's guitar arrangements were intricate and subtly balanced as he surrounded himself with Javier Colina on double bass and Bandolero on drum-percussion.

'The power of their compositions attracted listeners with a certain appeal and emotion,' said a guest in the audience.

The Spanish ambassador said he saw Javier Colina 15 years ago and liked his music which is why he made it a point to introduce the artist to the audience. 'I am happiest to have him here. Their musical experience has built bridges between cultures and people,' he said.
