Jahanian slum dwellers get proprietary rights.

LAHORE -- Chief Minister Parvez Elahi on Wednesday announced ownership right for the katchi abadies' residents at Khanewal's Jahanian tehsil.

He said the government would upgrade the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital from 40 to 150 beds and establish a blood bank and a labour room. Besides, he said, a trauma centre would be established at Jahanian. The chief minister was speaking at a public rally, says a handout.

Among other measures, he said a Bahauddin Zakariya University campus would be set up at Jahanian, the girls degree college would be upgraded and a new children's hospital would be established.

The Speedo bus service would be enhanced up to Jahanian and Thatta Sadiqabad, he said. He said 11 basic health units (BHUs) would be provided ambulances and Rescue 1122 motorbike service would be launched. He said Rs200 million would be allocated for the sewerage system of Thatta Sadiqabad.
