IUB council approves seven new faculties.

BAHAWALPUR -- The Academic Council of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) approved an increase in the number of its faculties from six to 13 with 123 teaching departments and institutes.

According to an IUB press release issued on Tuesday, the 49th meeting of the Academic Council was held online under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mahboob and attended by all deans and teaching heads. The participants fully endorsed the reforms for development and restructuring of the university.

The new academic departments approved included English literature and English linguistics, philosophy, anthropology, public administration, early childhood education, special education, education planning and management, education research and evaluation and language education.

The Faculty of Islamic Learning will have a new department of Translational Studies, and Quran education will be a part of the curriculum at both under-graduate and masters level. A School of Business Management and Administrative Sciences has been established with nine departments. The Faculty of Pharmacy will have five departments from various areas of pharmaceutical sciences.

Two new institutes -- Institute of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bio-Informatics and Institute of Physics - with 11 departments have been added to the Faculty of Sciences. The Faculty of Engineering will comprise seven departments.
