Islamabad, Kabul urged to strengthen cultural ties.

PESHAWAR -- Afghan Cultural Attache Hazrat Wali Hotak said here on Monday that Islamabad and Kabul should strengthen cultural ties to ensure durable peace and stability in the region.

He said that visa regime for smooth movement of artists and literati between the two countries should be eased and be brought to the minimal level so that people-to-people contact become informal, friendly and frank.

He said that it would ensure lasting peace and political stability in the entire region.

The Afghan diplomat visited Peshawar to attend an event held in connection with death anniversaries of Bacha Khan and Wali Khan. He was accompanied by his colleagues Faridoon Haiderkhel and Ghulam Habib Sipaas.

Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan, central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Sardar Hussain Babak and workers of the party and right activists attended the event titled Bacha Khan Week.

Opening the Bacha Khan Week, the ANP leaders said that efforts for rights of people would be continued according to the vision of Bacha Khan. They added that peace and economic prosperity were their aim.

On the occasion several stalls were set up, showcasing cultural books, dresses, footwear, traditional shawls and Charsadda Chappal.

A stall set up by brother-sister duo Kamran Khan and Almas Khanum from Malakand displaying images of Bacha Khan, Wali Khan, Ghani Khan, Ahmad Shah Abdali, Dr Najeebullah, Naqibullah Mehsud and Prof Sahib Shah Sabir attracted visitors while young bibliophiles took keen interest in buying books on Bacha Khan, Wali Khan, history...
