Ishaq Dar's property confiscated, efforts to extradite him underway.

ISLAMABAD:The Supreme Court on Tuesday was informed that former finance minister Ishaq Dar's property in Pakistan has been confiscated and that efforts to extradite him are underway. As the hearing went underway, Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir was informed by the attorney general that Dar's properties have been confiscated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

He further said, "Talks are being held with the UK government for Dar's arrest." Following the attorney general's remarks, the case's hearing was adjourned till an unspecified date.

Earlier, the accountability court asked the Punjab government to confiscate three plots owned by Dar, his spouse Tabassum and son Ali Mustafa after an order was issued on a NAB application regarding confiscation of three more plots owned by the former finance minister and had said that the plots had been placed at the disposal of the provincial government within the meaning of Section 88(7) of the Criminal Procedure Code. The accountability court further handed Punjab government the authority to auction off the assets as the report handed over to the apex court stated that the three plots are in the name of Ali Mustafa Dar, Tabussam Dar and Ishaq Dar, however, Dar's vehicle could not be ascertained.

On Oct 2, the accountability court handed the Punjab government the authority to either auction off or keep in its possession the assets of the absconding ex-finance minister in the same case. The progress report on the auction of former finance minister Ishaq Dar's assets was submitted in the accountability court on Wednesday.
