Iranian delegation visits Islamabad hospitals.

ISLAMABAD -- A delegation of Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Deputy Minister for Health and Medical Education Professor Bagher Larijanigave, on Thursday visited hospitals of the federal capital.

According to a statement, the delegation visited Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and Shifa International Hospital to see the medical facilities available there. The delegation also interacted with senior administration of the hospitals.

The purpose of the delegation's visit is to boost cooperation between the two countries in health and medical sectors.

Earlier, the delegation visited the Ministry of National Health Services and met Special Adviser to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza, Director General (DG) Health Services Dr Asad Hafeez and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) focal persons from federal and provincial levels.

Speaking to the delegation Dr Mirza expressed satisfaction over Pak-Iran collaboration in the health sector. He expressed his desire to work closely with his Iranian counterpart in further strengthening existing partnership especially on NCD agenda.

Dr Hafeez shared brief demographic background and burden of diseases in Pakistan. He further briefed on prioritisation of NCD interventions in Pakistan.
