Industrial chemistry experts share knowledge at NED moot.

KARACHI -- Several eminent scholars and professionals from the country and abroad presented their research papers and discussed important issues during the first international conference on industrial chemistry which concluded on Sunday.

Set on the theme 'Industrial chemistry towards a sustainable future: growing together', the conference was organised by the chemistry department of the NED University of Engineering and Technology.

The conference was devoted to stimulating engagement, networking and collaboration among researchers from renowned universities, research institutions and professionals from industry to encourage knowledge and technology exchange by sharing strengths for mutual benefit.

The event saw noteworthy talks by industrial representatives on the country's burning issues, such as, sugarcane biofuel production by Dr Shahid Afghan, potential of chemical industries in economic development by Iqbal Qidwai and potential of ethyl alcohol manufacturing by Adnan Javed Pirzada.

Dr Sarfaz Niazi from the University of Illinois, the US, shared the development of new vaccines.

Dr Mujtaba Elahi talked about smart glass technology use to tackle challenges posed by Covid-19 while Dr Nadia Akram spoke about her recent research about bioplastics.
