Increased supply of subsidised flour demanded.

SWABI -- People here have urged the government to ensure provision of subsidised wheat flour and increase its supply, saying the poor could not afford buying the commodity on the market price.

They said that the price of a 20kg bag of subsidised flour, which was first available at Rs980, had now reached Rs1,300.

Talking to this scribe, Uzair Ali of Maneri Payyan village said that there was Rs900 difference in the market price and subsidised rate of the 20kg flour bag being provided by the government.

He urged both the federal and provincial governments to increase the supply and provide the commodity to the people.

Other residents said that the consumers had been facing problems due to short supply of the commodity.

When contacted, an official of the district administration said that the quota for the area could only be increased by the government to meet the demand of consumers.
