Inclusion of rights activists in probe against police demanded.

KARACHI -- Rights activists have demanded the induction of human rights bodies and civil society in the inquiry commission constituted by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to probe into the police action taken against women protesters on June 13 outside the provincial assembly.

The activists Sheema Kermani, Mehnaz Rehman, Uzma Noorani, Sara Zaman, Naghma Shiekh and Sajida Baloch expressed concern over the high-handedness of police officials and demanded action against them.

The activists said that a peaceful protest was held for the recovery of missing persons, particularly two Baloch students of Karachi University, but police manhandled the women and arrested them.
