LAHORE -- Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to make Punjab Police free from political interference by implementing meritocracy.

He was chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore on Friday to devise a comprehensive strategy to introduce reforms in Punjab Police.

Prime Minister Imran Khan advised police to utilize latest technological innovations and spend all available resources to combat crime and ensure the protection of lives and properties of citizens.

The Prime Minister directed Inspector General Police Punjab to utilize all resources to protect lives and property of citizens.

He regretted that political appointments were made in police during previous tenures, which impacted performance of the department.

He said no one is above the law and asked the police personnel not to succumb to any political influence or pressure.
