IHC resumes hearing of Axact CEO's appeals against conviction.

ISLAMABAD -- Resuming hearing in appeals against conviction in fake degree cases, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday directed the chief executive officer of Axact Shoaib Sheikh to appear in person on every date of hearing and warned cancellation of bail for being absent.

A sessions court in July 2018 convicted Sheikh and 22 others in the fake degrees scam case, awarding them a total of 20 years imprisonment of different term.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs1.3 million on each of the convicts. The special prosecutor of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Syed Ashfaq Naqvi requested the court to recall the bail granting order over continuous absence of Sheikh in last few hearings.

Latif Khosa advocate, counsel for Sheikh, argued that in compliance with the order of IHC, his client has appeared in person. He, however, sought permanent exemption for Sheikh from attending the court's proceeding on every date of hearing. Justice Farooq issued notice...
