IGP vows exemplary punishment to 'rapist cops'.

LAHORE -- Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Captain Arif Nawaz says exemplary punishment will be given to the officials involved in raping a student in Rawalpindi.

He expressed these views on Sunday while giving directions to Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) retired Captain Ehsan Tufail and the City Police Officer (CPO) retired Captain Faisal Rana regarding the matter.

The IGP directed the CPO to personally supervise the investigation, keep contact with the family of the victim and submit a report with the Central Police Office at the earliest. He said protection of the lives and properties of the citizens was their first priority and the police officials violating the sanctity of uniform had no place in the department.
