Iesco imposes Rs33m fine on power thieves in October.

ISLAMABAD -- In its ongoing campaign to check power theft, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has imposed fines of Rs33.03 million on consumers during October for slowing meters and taking direct supply from the power meters.

In a statement, Iesco Chief Executive Dr Mohammad Amjad Khan said electricity theft was a national crime and it was its top priority to eliminate this practice from the company's region.

He said in this regard an indiscriminate anti-power theft campaign was in full swing in all operational circles of the company.

He said the Iesco staff had identified 3,093 power theft cases while 3,012 meters of consumers were found slow and direct supply was taken from 39 power meters.
