I-8 still has second highest number of active Covid-19 cases following two-week lockdown.

ISLAMABAD -- Even though two of its sub-sectors were unsealed on Thursday, I-8 still has the second highest number of active Covid-19 cases reported in the capital after Loi Bher, while I-10 has dropped from having the fourth highest number of active cases to the tenth.

Capital administration officials said that I-8/3, I-8/4, I-10/1 and I-10/2 were unsealed Thursday evening after a 14-day lockdown. The four localities were sealed after the coronavirus spread rapidly among residents.

I-8 had 448 confirmed cases, the second highest reported since the outbreak began in Islamabad before its two sub-sectors were sealed. At the time, it also had the second highest number of active cases, with 443.

The situation in that regard remains unchanged after the 14-day lockdown. I-8 still has the second highest number of reported cases in the capital with 738 as well as one death prior to the lockdown, while the number of active cases has fallen to 302. Another 250 cases were reported in I-8 during the lockdown.

Meanwhile, I-10, which had 454 cases - 380 of them active - before it went into lockdown, it now has the fifth most Covid-19 cases reported in the capital and the active cases have fallen to 182. There were 146 cases reported from the sector during the lockdown.

Officials said that as of July 1, 600 cases of Covid-19 have been reported from I-10 since the coronavirus outbreak began, which is the fifth highest number of cases overall. Six deaths have been reported from the area, including one during the lockdown.

G-9 currently has the fourth highest number of active cases and the third highest number of overall cases, with 242 and 630, respectively. One June 13, G-9/2 and G-9/3 were sealed because of the spread of the coronavirus, at which point G-9 had reported 326 active cases; the second highest number of both active and overall cases reported in the capital.

By the time these two sub-sectors were unsealed on June 29, G-9 had 262 active cases and had reported a total of 621. There were also 10 deaths...
