Hunari Tolana formed to work for welfare of artists.

PESHAWAR -- Young artists formed a new organisation with the name of Hunari Tolana here on Sunday to work for the welfare of artists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also assist the culture department in formulating different projects regarding cultural activities to ensure transparency in use of funds on the welfare of artists.

The artists pledged to ensure that the government officers extended help to the deserving people associated with the art and music industry and revive cultural activities through different projects.

Noted folksinger Rashid Khan was chosen as chief of Hunari Tolana while Gulabkhel Afridi, Sarfaraz Afridi, Zafar Iqrar, Waheed Achakzai, Ashraf Gulzar and Bilal Jamshid were assigned the slots of vice chief , secretary, vice secretary, press secretary, treasurer and office secretary, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashid Khan said that in the past several organisations were formed in the name of welfare for artists, but unfortunately they could not deliver when it came to ameliorating the miserable condition of artists. He alleged that funds allocated for the welfare of artists especially those bedridden since long were spent on useless activities.

Sarfaraz Afridi, another Pashto folksinger, told the participants that he and his colleagues formed the new organisation to forge unity among the ranks of artists for raising a voice for the rights of artists and musicians. He said currently the doors had been closed on...
