How it is possible that housing societies are being established on ETPB land: CJP.

ISLAMABAD -- Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad has remarked how it is possible that housing societies are being established on Evacuee Trust Property Board land.

He further remarked that most of minority properties have not been identified in the report of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB). All the properties of the minorities be identified across the country and report thereof be filed later. No mention is made about Karachi buildings in the report filed so far.5 multi storeys buildings were demolished in Karachi under court orders. ETPB has occupied many lands not only in Lahore but also at Karachi. Tell us if any recovery or marrest has been made on temple matter in KP.

CJP further remarked 'we call chairman ETPB and seek report from him. A detailed report containing all the progress made so far be filed in the court.

The CJP remarked construction of temple be started forthwith, its time line be framed and court be informed thereof. Parlab temple at Multan be prepared for Holy festival on March 28. Chairman ETPB ,IG Punjab and Chief Secretary should ensure security in Multan temple.

The CJP gave these remarks while expressing annoyance over incomplete report of ETPB during course of hearing of suo motu case on minorities' rights and Kirk temple incident Monday.

A 3-memer bench of SC presided over by the CJP took up the case for hearing.

Ikram Chaudhry counsel for ETPB told the court no recovery has been made so far in the matter of temple. Rs 34.1million have been approved for reconstruction of temple.
