Hindu community celebrated 'Karwa chauth'.

KARACHI -- The Hindu festival Karwa Chauth was celebrated with great enthusiasm and passion. Many Hindu wives had fast on Karwa Chauth in Karachi. Many Hindu couples went to different Temples of Karachi to celebrate the occasion and many of families celebrated at their homes. Govind Premji, who was very excited because his wife with two daughters in law had fast. They had a celebration at home and Pandit Natha Lal from Ramdev Pir Minder Golimar came for Pooja. His two sons Goutam Govind and Chandan Govind were also very excited because their wives had fast for their long lives. Goutam Govind told that my wife. Kirti had a 'nirjala' fast which really shows her love to me, explaining 'nirjala' he told that women keep a 'nirjala' fast, which literally means fasting in which even water isn't consumed from sunrise till the moon comes out. Pandit Natha Lal told that women fast on this day to pray for the safe and long life of their husbands, though these days many husbands too observe the fast along with their wives for a similar reason adding that the women consume a meal before dawn, called sargi and then only eat and drink after they see the moon at night. Pandit explained that Karwa Chauth is an auspicious occasion when married women pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati so that their husband has a long life.
