High-profile Quetta attack shows militants' intent, reach.

ISLAMABAD -- Though a marked reduction in number of terrorist attacks was observed in Pakistan during April this year yet militants have demonstrated their intent and reach by carrying out a high-profile attack at a luxury hotel in Quetta. According to the statistics released by an Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), as many as 13 militant attacks were reported in April that killed 12 people including eight civilians and four security forces personnel. In these attacks, 43 others were injured including 35 civilians and eight security forces personnel. In March, 20 militant attacks were reported in the country that killed 25 people while 37 others were injured. Thus, the number of militant attacks and number of deaths have gone down in April, while the number of those injured went high.
