Hashmi sees beginning of supremacy of law.

MULTAN -- Veteran politician Javed Hashmi says the death penalty to former dictator Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case is the beginning of the supremacy of law and Constitution.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he recalled that Musharraf had kept him (Hashmi) in jail in a high treason case but the judiciary had exonerated him and today courts have sentenced the former dictator to death. He said the judiciary had given a historic verdict and made it clear that the constitution is supreme.

'I am not sure whether the decision will be implemented or not but the beginning of the supremacy of the judiciary has started. In the past the judiciary facilitated those who damaged the constitution in the name of the doctrine of necessity but today is the day of victory for those who always struggled for the supremacy of the constitution,' he said.
