Haleem points out large-scale corruption in Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital project.

MIRPURKHAS -- PakAisAtan Tehreek-i-Insaf's parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has accused government officers of committing large-scale corruption in the funds for the construction of district headquarters hospital.

He told media persons after visiting the hospital building left incomplete on Monday that the officers had skimmed hefty commission from the funds for the construction project, which cost Rs1.2 billion and was to be completed in 2015 while Rs900 million had been released to the contractor.

Still, no equipment, ambulances and other facilities had been made available and no doctor and other staff had been appointed while the building had been left incomplete thanks to massive corruption, he said.

He regretted that the government which could not run even its existing hospitals was claiming to establish 10 more hospitals in the province. Patients from across the district came to the hospital for seeking treatment but they were then referred to LUMHS Hyderabad due to lack of facilities here.
