Hafeez-Gillani contest and future political landscape.

ISLAMABAD -- As March 3 approaches, rise in political temperature is being witnessed in the country amidst the political parties doing their best to secure maximum Senate seats and especially to clinch the one government's nominee, Hafeez Sheikh and PDM's candidate, Yousuf Raza Gillani are contesting for.

It's been busy days and the political situation is changing rapidly as the Senate elections are approaching. Politics in the country has always been an interesting drama to watch with the political actors changing their roles as per the situation. From the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) approaching the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to offer two Senate seats from Sindh in return of support for Gillani on the Islamabad seat to opposition's efforts to secure even a single vote of Jamaat-e-Islami, it's all happening in a rapidly-changing political situation. MQM-P is an ally of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in the Centre and Sindh and yet the PPP approached her to at least make the party regret participation in the luncheon planned by the PTI in Karachi on Sunday, giving boost to the speculations that MQM-P may help the opposition parties stage an upset. MQM-P has 7 seats in the National Assembly.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid doesn't believe it. He is sure that the government's nominee for the Islamabad Senate seat, Hafeez Sheikh, will be the ultimate winner. Contrary to the claim made by Sheikh Rashid, PML-N senior leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while talking to the media here, said that he was sure about the success of Gillani.
