SAHIWAL -- A gunman in police custody was killed in firing by his own accomplices in an encounter near Chotiyainwala Bagh in village 86/6-R late on Monday.

The Fatehsher police claimed five unidentified people attacked them where gunman Muhammad Ijaz was killed by their bullet. Constable Imran also suffered a bullet injury.

The Farid Town police, on the complaint of sub-inspector Wazir Ahmed, registered a murder FIR against the five attackers.

The police said that on Monday afternoon, brothers Siraj and Touseef foiled a dacoity attempt in their shop on High Street when three gunmen riding a motorcycle tried to loot cash and mobile phones from them. Siraj resisted and captured one of the gunmen at which the other gunman who was standing outside the shop shot at and injured the brothers.

Later, two gunmen fled while customers and the shop owners captured the third one, who was later identified as Ijaz. Rescue 1122 shifted both injured brothers to the Sahiwal DHQ Teaching...
