Grand finale of 'Alhamra Voice' brings forth new talent.

LAHORE -- The grand finale of singing competition, 'Alhamra Voice,' on Wednesday night witnessed some new and melodious voices, showing signs that the country had a new generation of playback, classical and Sufi singers ready to take over the music scene.

A large audience comprised of music fanciers had reached the Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, in big numbers to enjoy an exclusive night of music.

Over 200 boys and girls from the age group of 15 to 25 years were registered for the competition. Of them, 24 singers were selected for the first leg of the competition, 12 were marked for the semi-final and then three prime positions were grabbed by the best voices.

Samiya Gohar stood first while second position was shared by Ghayas Haider and Nazar Abbas, third position was won by Ayesha Afzal. Interestingly, the third position also had a tie between Ayesha Afzal and Ayesha Tariq and both were given a second chance to sing their respective songs and finally Ayesha Afzal was declared the winner. However, the same method was not applied for the second position for unknown reasons.

The judges were music composer Mujahid Hussain and singers Waris Baig and Tarranum Naz. For the expert opinion...
