Govt to organize international sports event in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD -- Senate session was told on Friday that the government was putting efforts at international level to arrange sports event s on the country's grounds. Minister for Parliamentary Mohammad Ali Khan, however, was optimistic that Pakistan would be able to organize international level sports competitions on its grounds. The Senate session, however, observed insufficient funds, lack of merit and training were some causes behind poor performance of players in the Asian games. The session was informed that as many as 351 players had participated in the Asian games which were held in Indonesia and more than Rs80 million were spent on their visit. But the players were managed to bag only four bronze medals.

Talking to the session, Minister for Parliamentary Mohammad Ali Khan informed the Senators that the government was working to implement a merit based sports policy so that the players can get their due right. He added that the government was also taking measures to ensure maximum women...
