Govt's reply sought in PGMI principal appointment case.

LAHORE -- The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Punjab government on a petition against additional charge of principal of Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI)/Ameeruddin Medical College given to a junior officer.

Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Babar filed the petition complaining about being discriminated against despite being the most senior professor at PGMI.

Representing the petitioner, Advocate Awais Khalid told the court that the post of the institute's principal was vacant since the retirement of the previous incumbent since July. The petitioner being the most senior professor had the legitimate expectancy to be appointed to the post.
