Govt flayed for `not advocating` province`s rights.

PESHAWAR -- Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Ahmad Karim Kundi has criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not effectively pleading the province`s case regarding share in natural resources with the centre.

He told a presser here on Monday that it was the duty of the federal government to provide KP with its due share in net hydel profit but the provincial government didn`t take up the matter with it.Mr Kundi said the Covid-19 pandemic had caused financial challenges and increased poverty and unemployment, so the government shouldn`t make any compromise on the rights of the province.

He said the best national forum to raise the issues about the province`s rights was the Council of Common Interests but the provincial government hadn`t bothered to convene it to claim rights.

Mr Kundi said the government was trying to divert the people`s attention from its weak policies by initiating debate on 18th Constitutional Amendment and National Finance Commission Award.

He said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was bent on snatching the rights of the provinces.

`We will put up strong resist-ance to any attempt for reversing 18th Amendment,` he said.

The PPP leader said the provincial government was trying to use Covid-19 pandemic and locust attacks to cover its weakness.

`The rulers are unable to explain why the Covid-19 death rate is higher in KP compared with other provinces,` he said.
