Govt asked to lift ban on public transport.

PESHAWAR -- The owners of public service vehicles (PSVs) have demanded of the government to lift ban on public transport till May 8 (Friday), or they will start protest demonstrations against the lockdown from Saturday.

'We took the decision at a joint meeting of all transporters at Haji Camp Bus Stand on Tuesday,' Khan Zaman Afridi, public transport owners' association president, told Dawn.

Muttahida transport federation president Haji Noor Mohammad Mohmand, Mazda association president Almas Khan Khalil, Shaheen transport union general secretary Murad Khan and Kohat transport union representative Mujahid Khan also attended the meeting.

Mr Zaman Afridi said that the prolonged lockdown had added to miseries of the transport operators. He said that the transporters could not keep their vehicles off the road any longer.
