Govt asked to bring back bodies of expats.

PESHAWAR -- Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has criticised the government for not taking appropriate steps to bring back bodies of Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia, demanding of Prime Minister Imran Khan to arrange special flights for repatriation of the deceased people.

JI deputy provincial chief MPA Inayatullah Khan in a statement here on Thursday said that documentation of 46 deceased persons belonging to Upper Dir was completed but government was least bothered to arrange flights for bringing them back to their country.

The lawmaker said that the Pakistanis in Gulf countries were waiting for government response to shift them to their respective localities. He said that hundreds of bodies were kept in mortuaries and residential buildings but government was yet to take steps for their transportation.

Mr Khan said that the bodies of some overseas Pakistanis, who died due to Covid-19 pandemic, were kept in the residential quarters of the laboueres as they were not allowed to be kept in mortuaries of hospitals. He said overseas Pakistanis sent foreign exchange to the country...
