SAHIWAL -- A council of elders (panchayat) has allegedly subjected a 20-year-old girl to vani after her brother contracted love marriage with a girl at village 73/D, Pakpattan.
Reports said in mid of May [victim] Nazia's brother Shahid contracted love marriage with Yasmeen and left the village. Yasmeen's uncle Sayed Ahmed got a kidnap case registered against Shahid and Maliak Hans police arrested Nazia's two brothers Nadeem and Naeem. The love marriage couple could not be traced.
Later, on June 3, the matter was taken to Panchayat which married Nazia off to Yasmeen's elder brother Amin (60). On June 5, girl's mother Sakina Bibi filed an application with DPO office but no action was...
