Girl students have fun at cultural event in Jamrud.

LANDI KOTAL -- The girl students clad in colourful attires representing different regions of Pakistan organised a cultural day at Government Degree College Jamrud that also featured fun and food stalls coupled with science exhibition on Wednesday.

The event was the first of its type in an educational institution for girls in the tribal district that was also attended by government officials including Education Secretary Manzoor Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Mehmud Aslam Wazir, MPAs Wilson Wazir and Shafeeq Sher along with some local elders.

The guests took a round of various stalls set up by the students and evinced keen interest in the variety of art pieces, clothes, different food items and science exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Manzoor Ahmad said that government devised an 'accelerated development plan' to give special attention to education and health in the recently merged tribal districts.

He said that the shortcomings faced by educational institutions in those districts were on the radar of the government and it was trying its level best to resolve all the longstanding issues pertaining to education.
